But it is a little known Japanese company called 'Genepax' that seems to have hit the bulls-eye big time with its electric powered and environment friendly car that runs entirely on water, be it rain, river or sea water.
The H2O car was launched last Thursday in the western Japanese city of Osaka. According to the company, on a liter of water (2.1 pints) the car will run for an hour at a speed of 80kmph. Genepax CEO Kiyoshi Hirasawa speaking to TV Tokyo said that the car will run as long as one has a bottle of water to top up from time to time, and one doesn’t have to build an infrastructure to recharge the batteries, which is usually the case for most electric cars.
According to TV Tokyo, the generator breaks the water down as soon as it is poured into the tank at the rear of the car and uses it to create electrical power. Genepax has recently sought for a patent on the car and is hoping to collaborate with Japanese auto-makers in the future. For now, it remains to seen if the car makes it to the showrooms.
